We ate an early dinner at this pub three days ago and it was quiet at that time (except for background music which wasn't too terribly loud), as only one other couple was there. We ordered two starters - which were only 2.50 pounds/each for a limited period - and two entrées (from a limited list) for only 8.95 pounds/each. I had the mushroom soup, which was a decent-sized bowl with lots of mushrooms and it was very tasty. My husband had the stuffed mushrooms, which turned out to be deep fried and he said they were just "fair". We both had the vegetable risotto, which was *delicious*.

Two young women were working there; one took the orders and the other brought out the food. The former one in particular was very snarky initially, and we also overheard her say some nasty things after we'd placed our order and had sat down at a table. However; eventually they both mellowed and became pleasant - and especially after we'd told them how delicious the food was.

nice, simple, lunch. clean restaurant and bar area. friendly staff. cheap food and drinks. plenty of old people which is always a good sign. nothing fancy.
